not dead yet

wow, i'm the worst at keeping an update schedule apparently. between the holidays, working on various projects and not really drawing much for a while, i havent posted since september *cringe*
but enough excuses, that's not why you're here

wish i had more to show for my 7+ months of not posting, but since i haven't been drawing my aesir characters much recently this is it

first up is a little sketch portrait of Loki

next up is a random doodle of Skade without her coat

and then we have some Skoll. since he always seems to get drawn borderline frightened for his life or just pathetic in general, i thought i'd see what he looked like actually smiling. he still looks rather pathetic lol

and last up is a little something of Loki that showed up in the Sketchbook Project i did at the end of last year. the two-tone hair color isn't really canon anymore since it wouldn't really make sense with the setting, i just wanted to use her original color scheme for the fun of it

not much of an update this time thanks to moving and doing alot of unrelated doodling.
but we do have this; Hel using electrokinesis. (pose referenced from here)

also because the updates don't really follow the previously mentioned weekly schedule, I'm going to go with monthly updates for now.

getting back in the swing of things

a slightly random assortment of sketches done while trying to get back in the groove of working on Aesir after a binge of other projects.

the first sketch was me guilt tripping/ poking fun at myself for putzing  around and neglecting my characters and the blog

also, the reason Loki looks younger is because i always imagined her Wraith personality as being younger than the other two, and that she would probably see herself as being younger. that and cute things create even more guilt lol

next are a couple sketches of Hel. the out of character smiley pic was a silly little thing done out of boredom

what's this, Mishka with two arms? partly to make up for the last time i drew him with both arms and because he's actually supposed to have all his limbs during most of the actual story.

somehow i hadn't realized it had been a month since my last post @_@

first up, relevant things;

sorry for the massive inactivity lately, things got kinda crazy with moving, work and life in general.

no pictures this time, but i do have an update for you guys.
since i've never actually given a real explanation of the story, and i'm sure you're all like 'what is this madness', now's as good a time as any to try and give a decent summary.

Ther

The story takes place on earth, following a slightly alternate timeline of history to allow for the necessary technology.

‘Aesir’ was begun as a Cold War era project with Soldat. The aim of the project was to create highly specialized/ super soldiers. Soldat was conceived and funded by the Soviet government.

It was eventually decided that Soldat wasn’t providing satisfactory results- too many variables with subjects, high mortality rate, etc., the project was replaced with Aesir. Aesir was meant to be a replacement/ version 2.0 of the original aim of Soldat. By this time the Cold War had ended, the project was continued without Soviet involvement and funded privately.

The initial Aesir experiments were a fusion of human and animal DNA to try to create superior reflexes/ senses, etc. later experiments also returned to the genetically engineered human roots of Soldat.

e were two phases to Aesir- the original experiments (first through fourth generations) at the first lab which were eventually scrapped as prototypes, and the fifth generation which yielded more satisfactory results and effectiveness.

The labs where Soldat/Aesir take place are in Germany (no specific location yet, but probably somewhere in the area that was East Germany). Currently have the lab/company going by Schützen (been renamed about as often as some of the characters, but schützen seems to be sticking for now lol)

current character roster (if only to get it down in one coherent list instead of all over the blog) :
Soldat: Maverick, Sin, Mishka, Andrei
Aesir generation 1-4: Vidar, Skoll, Vili, Hel, Loki
Aesir generation 5: Skade, Huginn, Muninn
and as was mentioned in a previous post, there are various other background/ KIA before the story characters that haven't really popped into existence yet

first up is a couple sketches of Vili, now that he actually has a face.

nest is the result of me getting bored and drawing everyone (everyone who currently has a character design anyway) as a chibi. and put some personality traits/ quirks/ general info with them, instead of being super vague like usual.

don't really have much else to add this time, other than the internet apparently didn't want this update to happen.

twins and tangents

what's this, more new faces? they would be Huginn (left) and Muninn (right).

now for a small explanation tangent;
the Aesir experiments- Vidar, Skoll, Hel, Loki, and Skade- previously had the designations of units 01-05 to indicate which prototype/experiment they were (these designations haven't been used on the blog). this has recently been changed slightly to account for there probably being more prototypes/experiments interspersed in there.

Generation 01- first round of prototypes: where Vidar fits in, along with others that most likely won't survive to the main point of the story (once they're eventually spawned). eventually discontinued due to a lack of satisfactory results.
Generation 02: Skoll, and eventually others. also discontinued.
- the first two generations attempted to mix human and animal genes. discontinued when the resulting experiments couldn't successfully pass as human/desired traits or abilities weren't achieved.
Generation 03: Hel, Vili (no design for him yet). this generation used more human subjects but tried to artificially produce psychokinetic abilities. ended because successful results were too hit-or-miss.
Generation 04: Loki, and probably others. final prototype round and a mixture of the forst three generations, eventually discontinued when results plateau.
Generation 05: Skade, Huginn & Muninn. first final/non-prototype round.

hopefully that either made a little bit of where the madness is going, or atleast placed some of the characters in relation to each other.

no actual Aesir update tonight. I've been busy working on some things for a local art sale and finishing my costume for a convention next weekend. so to keep the blog from going dead again enjoy some of the zodiac cards i've been working on, because who doesn't like squishy cute things :)

first up is Hel, who i believe hasn't been posted here yet. mostly just practice because i haven't drawn her in a while.

next we have Loki's Havoc personality (she has split personalities). Havoc is basically an agressive, slightly psychotic personality while Loki is more neutral and sane

dusting off the blog

an update? no wai!
time to dust this thing off and start posting again now that all the crazy with school and graduation is finally over.

started putting together a height chart of the Soldat and Aesir characters:


for now we have left to right; Sin, Maverick, Mishka, and Skade.

and not to jinx it, but now that everything is starting to settle out, we should be able to get back to at least once a week updates
